This is one of three neighboring office buildings in Waltham where Plankton Energy operates rooftop community solar; the others are a 313 kW system and a 540 kW system. Together the three systems put more than a megawatt of solar on roofs that previously earned nothing.
The building owner leases roof space to Plankton and earns lease income, while local residents and businesses subscribe to the array’s output and receive utility bill credits. Plankton developed, financed and built the system and handles monitoring, maintenance and subscriber management for its life.
