This 228.72kW rooftop behind the meter solar system sits on a school in Cheshire, CT. The energy generated is sold to the building through a power purchase agreement at a reduced cost from the local utility.
A power purchase agreement with no upfront cost
Plankton Energy developed, financed and installed the 229 kW rooftop array and owns and operates it for the long term. The school buys the electricity it produces at a fixed rate below the utility’s, so it saves from day one without spending capital or taking on maintenance. School roofs are well suited to this model: they are large and flat, and the building is busiest during the daytime hours when the panels produce the most.
