Salem Senior Village in Salem, New Jersey, has partnered with New York solar developer Plankton Energy to complete the installation of a 127.28 kW rooftop solar energy system, dramatically reducing its reliance on traditional utility power. The new system will generate enough electricity to offset a portion of the facility’s annual energy use. Over the life of the system, Salem Senior Village will save over $550,000 in it’s energy costs.
The solar installation is expected to produce approximately 157,000 kWh of electricity per year, helping to lower energy costs and avoid over 1,236 metric tons of CO₂ emissions over its lifetime. The move to solar is part of a broader initiative to enhance long-term sustainability and operational efficiency at the property.
